Sneak Peek Day 1 | Gardenia

It is Sneak Peek Day 1 - and it's time to reveal the Gardenia collection!

The Gardenia Collection is a celebration of the Gardenia flower.  Floral images are so beautiful and I love to use them on a variety of projects. Most often, I use them for cards for anything from birthday cards to sympathy to thank you.

All of the products for this release are DIGITAL and will be available for download at time of purchase.  The descriptions below will give more information about the file type for each product and suggestions for use.

You can find the Gardenia Collection, and my other products in my shop.

Projects:

I have created a couple of projects to show you some possible ways to use these products.

The first was created as a Mother's Day card for my dear mom, Debbie.  She loves gardenias, and I had been wanting to create this flower for her for some time.  I was finally able to get the flower just the way I wanted it, and I am so pleased she loved it too.

For this card I actually used two different sets.  The background is created from the Gardenia DIGITAL STAMPS using the images that include a white background.  This allowed me to resize and overlap the flowers without seeing the lines from the other images.  This acts much like masking a stamped image and then stamping over the masking to make the first image appear to be in front.  Once I had all of the various gardenias arranged in the background, I printed this image onto kraft cardstock using my black laser printer, and then foiled the image using Heidi Swapp Gold Minc foil. If you look toward the bottom of the card, you can see the light accenting the gold foiled flowers.

For the main image, I used the Gardenia DIGITAL STAMPS + BORDERS set so that I could "print and cut" the image with my Silhouette Cameo. Just like in the preview image above, you can see the border the SVG file provides.  I don't mind fussy cutting, but this is also a great option. I chose to use a few pale pink / peach shades of Letraset Aquamarkers to paint in the shadow depth of the white gardenia and the leaves were all colored with Prismacolor Pencils.  To accent the card, I chose the "thankful for you" stamp from Winnie & Walter's A Tree for All Seasons, embossed in gold, and added sequins from Pretty Pink Posh in gold, marshmallow flat and sparkling clear.

This little beauty was made all from scraps!  Don't you just love that?  The frame, flower and leaves were all cut with card stock scraps I had in my stash. {The frame is from another die cut coming on Sneak Peek Day 3 from the Elegant Lady collection.}  The frame was cut 4 times and glued together to provide a raised surface for the large gardenia and leaves from the Gardenia DIGITAL DIE CUTS set. I love the shadows on this card.  You will get another glimpse of the layers in the image below.

Before attaching the elements, I planned where to stamp the sentiment by placing the frame and flower on the card, and marking off the area with a light pencil mark.  The sweet handwritten message stamp is from Stampabilities, and perfect for this card. The final touches are more sequins from Pretty Pink Posh in watermelon and sparkling clear.

So, what did you think?  Are these sets giving you any ideas?  I would love to hear what you think in the comments below! Oh, and for those of you wondering, yes, I did write the word Gardenia in the set. :)

Tomorrow - Sneak Peek Day 2 - Rose Window!  See you then!
