I have several projects for you today.  First, I will start with two projects that are inspired by fall colors - Peppermint Bark, Mandarin Spice and Sauna inks.

be happy:

Don't worry.... be happy! This card makes me really happy!  Quick to stamp and assemble and love how these colors go together.

I stamped various medallions from the Medallion Mix-Up Stamp Set (from the Naturally Inspired Collection also available in the shop now) onto Premium White Card Stock cut into a 3.75" x 5.5" panel using Sauna, Mandarin Spice and Peppermint Scrub. The "be happy" sentiment is also stamped in Mandarin Spice, and I think it looks so sweet there. For some added bling, I stamped a final small medallion in the center using Versamark ink and embossed with Judi-Kins Egyptian Gold embossing powder. It is a lovely yellow shade with irridescent glitter and looks great with these spa colors.  I also added Versamark ink to the 4.25" x 11"card base (love a top fold card) and embossed it to match the center.  The panel was added with foam tape and the finished card looks simply elegant.

smile

This card is all about playing with the inks, stamps and die!

Once I opened these Spa inks, I wanted to play with them and see how they looked together.  The top banner strip, although it only sticks out a very little bit, has lovely droplets of texture.  It has the ink smooshing technique using Sauna and Mandarin Spice. The bottom banner strip has the awesome Plaid Background Stamp inked with Peppermint Scrub and Mandarin Spice, and then using an ink blending tool, I added Sauna over the whole image.  I love how the shades blend so well together.  The third banner strip is some awesome bronze / copper paper I had in my stash.

I saw this cute Small Doily Die and I have to admit that I cut from MANY different papers, and then I had this idea to cut it from a book page.  I love that the aged color of this paper is right in line with the other warm colors on this card, and the text is another layer of visual texture, and so unexpected!

For more ink blending, I used Mandarin Spice and Peppermint Scrub together on the front medallion form Medallion Mix-Up.  You can see how just the edges are touches with the red and gives it great dimension.  The second medallions were stamped in Sauna and Peppermint Scrub.  Both of these were embossed with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder. The final medallion was stamped with Versamark and then embossed with WOW Rose Gold Embossing Powder. I wish you could see the shine on these - just enough bling for this card. This card really made me smile when it was done, so I felt like that was the perfect sentiment (stamped in Icing on the Cake), and it fits perfectly tucked in beside the banners.

Loving these warm Spa colors - they are nearly the same as the colors of my kitchen and living room, so you know I took a shine to them! Now, its time to take a look at the rest of the colors in these next two Christmas themed projects.

wonderful gift card holder

Some of you may know that I was a teacher, and at Christmas time, I was blessed to receive many gifts over the years, and often parents and students would give me gift cards, typically for Starbucks!  My students knew me very well!  This fun gift card holder is the perfect alternative to a Christmas card and the gift card tucks right inside!

I found this gift card template a long time ago, probably when I was working with Stampin' Up! If you do a quick search on Pinterest, you will find many different ones to choose from, and all look really cute to me. The template is very simple to prepare. Cut your card base 4.25" x 11" and score the card base at 3", 5.5" and 8". The end sections are the front and back cover, and the middle section gets folded and glued around the edges keeping the card together, but allowing a pocket for the gift card. Sometimes this type of holder has a ribbon glued in under the front panel image so there is a way to keep the card closed.  I opted for some bakers twine on the outside.  Either would work. I chose to make my notch for the gift card by simply drawing marks in pencil and cutting with scissors. Mine is 3.625 (5/8) wide, but I recommend you use the gift card you are giving to create your notch measurements as they are not all the same size. I have created a PDF Diagram for this project that you can download HERE.

As you can see, I had some fun playing with the Plaid Background Stamp.  I stamped the front panel piece in Eucalyptus (size 4" x 2.75 and red mat paper is 4.125" x 2.875" - or 4  1/8  x  2  7/8 ) and stamped the large sentiment from the Wonderful Time of the Year Stamp Set with Versamark and embossed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Midnight Bronze Obsidian embossing powder.  This made the image really stand out over the plaid. The holly leaves and berries were created with direct to paper inking of Eucalyptus and Peppermint Scrub, and then cut with dies from the Tis the Season Dies.  The inside panel plaid was stamped in more Peppermint Scrub and cut to 4" x 2". I actually cut two of these and one is on the other side of the card "pop up".

wonderful ornaments card

Since this is "the most wonderful time of the year", I decided to also make a card with this same lovely sentiment from the Wonderful Time of the Year stamp set, but this time, play with the sweet mix and match ornaments.

juliemogford_wonderfulornaments3_CPbloghop.png

I started by inking the large sentiment with Daydream, Juniper Mist, and Royal Treatment, and then blending the ink on the stamp gently with an ink blending tool to give the ombre a smoother appearance. Then I stamped the ornament hanger (so cute) in three areas to coordinate with the sentiment design.  I then heat embossed the hangers with Versamark ink and embossed them with Metallic Platinum Sparkle Embossing Glitter by WOW. Then, I stamped the three ornament shapes and embossed them with same powder.  I did this in stages to ensure the ink was wet enough for embossing.  I wanted the whole ornament in this embossing powder because it reminded me of the look of mercury glass. *sigh*  Next, I stamped three different centers using each of the colors from the sentiment. To get the soft color in other areas of the images, I used a Dove blender pen with the inks and brushed on in the detail areas.  You could use a waterbrush, but the blender pen is not as wet, and is great to use for this type of quick coloring. I trimmed the card panel to 3.75" x 4.75" and set aside.

The card base is another 4.25" x 11" and I masked off the top edge so I could use ink blending to color the front. I used the colors in the same order that I used them on the sentiment. I dried this with a heat tool, and then powdered the surface to prep for more embossing.  Using the snowflakes from this set in all three sizes, I stamped them around the edge in versamark ink and then embossed with the same Metallic Platinum Sparkle Embossing Glitter. Then, just add the panel with foam tape.
